Scarecrows information

Barton Mills Scarecrow Festivals are usually held in alternate years, and 2012 was scheduled to be a ‘SCARECROW YEAR’ - but there are a lot of other important events happening this year, including the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the London Olympics.  So it was suggested that we hold a ‘reduced’ Festival on the weekend 7th and 8th July. The Village Hall and a marquee for the field were booked, and then we discovered that on Saturday 7th July the Olympic Torch will travel through our area! All the organisers and many other people want to go and see the Torch pass by, so Scarecrows on that day would not be possible. And no-one is prepared to make scarecrows for one day only, so, sadly, a weekend Festival has been abandoned.
BUT – there will be a SCARECROW OLYMPIC TORCH CELEBRATION PARTY on Saturday evening 7th July, in the marquee on Barton Mills Playing Field. From about 7pm there will be music and entertainment for all, especially families to enjoy. Look out for more information soon.

BARTON MILLS SCARECROW FESTIVALS raises funds for charities and local good causes. Final proceeds will go to Barton Mills Parish Church Preservation Trust. This Trust raises money for the maintenance of the 800 year old church building
